A Message from John Slosberg

My name is John Slosberg. I am a graduate of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) and I have been practicing Acupuncture for fourteen years. During that time, I have had the great pleasure of treating people for a range of conditions – from fatigue, pain and discomfort to serious illnesses. Seeing my patients’ pain and symptoms reduced or eradicated – and watching as their health improves – is a wonderful experience, and my primary reason for devoting myself to this field.

I chose Acupuncture because it gives me the opportunity to work with people one on one. I have an ongoing opportunity to refine my tools and techniques in an effort to achieve optimal results. And, since every person is different, the skills and sensitivity to meet each patient “where they are” need constant attention. This continuous, interactive learning aspect of the field keeps it interesting and fresh. Which is  ideal for me and, ultimately, of great benefit to my patients.

With more than 670 Acupuncturists in the metro Portland area, why should you choose me? I have been in practice longer than 67% of Oregon’s Acupuncturists. I am one of the few practitioners in Oregon skilled in MPT – a unique approach to treating musculo-skeletal pain which can enhance Acupuncture results. (For more details, please see About MPT). Additionally, I have a patient-centric approach to needling and I provide post-treatment ergonomic recommendations and postural qigong-based exercises which can improve results and minimize the need for additional treatments.

Plus, over the course of my training and my fifteen years of practice, I have developed a keen sense of what it means to be a patient who is living with pain or dealing with illness. And I am constantly thinking about treatment in relation to how I would like to be treated myself. These considerations inform everything I do as a practitioner. So first and foremost, I will listen to you, the patient. I will listen and listen, and then I will listen some more.

And after I listen to what you have to say, I will listen to what your body has to say. Through extensive, focused and disciplined palpation of the affected and related areas of your body, I will determine what, specifically, needs attention. I will let your body tell me where and how to treat it. And I will proceed in a way that not only considers your condition, but also your individual physiology and psychology.

So, if you are seeking a practitioner who integrates clinical experience and expertise with a sensitive touch and highly empathic approach, I invite you to spend a few minutes exploring this site. And, I look forward to speaking with you, meeting you and treating you in the near future.

Sincerely,

John Slosberg
